This session will be hosted by Li-Ron Zohar (Cohort #6), Deputy Head, Medical Technology Information & Research Directorate, Ministry of Health; Dr. Catherin Ela (Cohort #3), Director, Clinical Trials Unit, Ministry of Health; and Miri Trainin, Head of the Pharmacy Division, Ministry of Health. Together, they will present the national plan to strengthen Israel’s clinical trials ecosystem, in alignment with 8400’s strategic initiatives.
This collaborative discussion will focus on high-impact, actionable priorities to accelerate implementation of the plan. Participants are invited to contribute ideas and expertise to help align government initiatives with ecosystem needs, maximizing Israel’s competitive advantages and ensuring meaningful outcomes for patients, healthcare systems, and the biotech industry.
To build on this effort, the meeting will also set in motion a working group that will continue to convene in a series of sessions to drive implementation forward.

Li-ron is a Director of National Programs at the Medical Technology, Health Information, Innovation and Research Directorate of Israel’s Ministry of Health. In this capacity she is responsible for initiating, creating and implementing national programs. Currently she leads the COVID vaccine procurement team, including strategy formulation and negotiations with the vaccine companies.
Liron previously headed the national program for life science and among other things, facilitated approval of clinical trials to promote the life science industry. Liron has a BSc in Psycho-Biology, an MA in Public Policy, and an M.Sc. in Technology Management, all from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. She is also a Harvard Wexner alumna.

Catherine Ela, PhD, is currently the Director of the clinical trials department at the Ministry of Health. She was previously the head of the clinical trials medical devices and advanced therapies unit and was a pharmacist at the Pharmaceutical Department at the MoH. She holds Master’s Degrees in Biochemistry and Microbiology, a PhD from The Hebrew University Medical School and is a registered pharmacist graduate of the Hebrew University school of pharmacy.
